Testing Schedule Update for April 2020 NAVLE Candidates

Regardless of the country where testing, all examinees with a current scheduling permit now can take the NAVLE through September 30, 2020.

An open letter to our Spring 2020 NAVLE Candidates:

We know the last few months have been challenging on many levels.

Thank you for your patience while we coordinated with our NAVLE collaborators, the National Board of Medical Examiners® (NBME®) and Prometric Testing Centers (PTC), to address constantly changing information, variations in national, provincial, state, and local guidelines, and to verify test center re-openings and availabilities.

To assist with candidate scheduling and test administration during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the ICVA has now extended NAVLE eligibility periods for all examinees who currently have a scheduling permit through September 30, 2020, regardless of the country in which they are testing.

Please note: candidates are encouraged to schedule within this timeframe as no additional extensions are anticipated.

Eligibility Extension Details

  • No fees will be charged for these eligibility extensions.

  • No action is required from examinees; eligibility periods are extended automatically.

  • Once eligibility extensions have been processed, examinees will be notified via email to access their new scheduling permit online. Examinees will need to use the new permit once received to schedule their NAVLE exam appointment at PTC for a date after June 30.
  • Extending the eligibility period does not impact already scheduled appointments. If you are already scheduled to take the NAVLE, please check the PTC website for the current status before going to the test center on your scheduled test day.

Multiple Score Report Releases

As shared previously, ICVA will provide multiple score releases throughout and after the entire extended testing window.

Candidates who tested on or before May 17 are tentatively scheduled to receive their score reports during the first week of June. Additional score report releases will follow approximately once per month during the first two weeks of each subsequent month.

Ongoing Updates

The ICVA has provided this update to veterinary school and licensing board contacts and will continue to post any additional updates on the ICVA website.

Thank you, and if you have further questions, please contact us.
