Licensing Board Policies on NAVLE Retakes

The following table summarizes the results of a survey of licensing boards originally conducted by the ICVA/NBVME in fall 2008, and updated annually thereafter. The second column shows boards that have adopted the ICVA policy limiting candidates to five attempts at the NAVLE in a five year period.  The third column shows boards that have their own NAVLE attempt limit. The fourth column shows boards that do not at this time have a limit on the number of attempts. The last column indicates whether that licensing board will accept scores from candidates who take the NAVLE under circumstances that are not consistent with our retake policy. In some cases, boards were undecided or have not yet made a decision, and candidates should contact those individual licensing boards for guidance. A complete list of licensing board contact information is available here.
