The ICVA Board of Directors meeting is scheduled for June 28-29, 2024 in Banff, Alberta. ICVA Chair Dr. Fernando J. Marqués will chair the meeting.

Join us as a volunteer and make a difference in veterinary education. ICVA has been developing a new veterinary educational progress test and is entering a new phase for 2024. We are seeking the invaluable expertise of individuals from AVMA COE-accredited veterinary schools to join as volunteers and play a crucial role in the next steps of the progress test’s development.

Congratulations to the 2023 ICVA Assessment Grant winner, Dr. Carolyn Legge, University of Calgary Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, for her proposal, “Does the gamification of reinforcement-based learning affect summative assessment performance? It’s a game of Cards.”

The ICVA grant program, overseen by the ICVA Academic Veterinary Assessment Committee (AVAC) on behalf of the ICVA Board of Directors, is pleased to announce the 2024 grant program with up to three grant award opportunities of $10,000 USD. The purpose of an ICVA assessment grant is to validate current, discover new, implement and support best practices in assessment in veterinary medical education. This includes assessment of students, instructors, and programs.

The ICVA has sent out a call for nominations for two at-large positions on the ICVA Board of Directors.

The ICVA has sent out a call for nominations for five open positions on the Assessment Development Committee (ADC). The open positions are for experts in the Bovine - Beef, Canine, Equine, Feline and Zoo/ Wildlife areas.

At the September 2023 AAVSB Annual Meeting, ICVA announced upcoming changes to the NAVLE retake policy. Under the new policy, candidates will be permitted to take the NAVLE up to five times, including incomplete attempts.
