Academic Veterinary Assessment Committee – Call for Nominations

We are asking your assistance in identifying individuals interested in participating on ICVA’s Academic Veterinary Assessment Committee. Currently there are two openings for individuals on this 12-member working group who hold expertise in measurement and assessment methodology. In addition to expertise, we are seeking to include broad representation across academia.

Members of this steering committee will serve a minimum of one-year term (with the potential to extend).  Meetings are conducted via Zoom at a date/time that meets the needs of the participants appointed to the committee.

The ICVA Board of Directors created the Academic Veterinary Assessment Committee (AVAC) in 2017 (formerly known as the Academic Veterinary Assessment Working Group). The Board of Directors tasked this group with identifying what assessment and measurement resources currently exist across health professions education, and identifying areas where ICVA can best serve the assessment needs of academic veterinary medicine. Drs. Jack Wilson, former ICVA Board member, and Kent Hecker, ICVA Chief Assessment Officer, currently lead the steering committee that will appoint members to this group.

Nominations must be received by September 17, 2021. Please include a short (two-page) resume or CV of the applicant’s qualifications.

You can find the nomination form here.

Current practitioners are also needed on an on-going basis as part of ICVA’s commitment to assessment quality, as NAVLE item writers and reviewers. Contact the ICVA at for information.
