AAVSB presentation – NAVLE Deep Dive
On September 30, Dr. Heather Case, CEO of the ICVA, will be part of the team that presents the “NAVLE Deep Dive Session for Board Members” at the American Association of Veterinary State Boards (AAVSB) Annual Meeting & Conference in Boulder, CO. Along with Drs. Kent Hecker and Courtney Vengrin, Dr. Case will provide information on ICVA as well as the development of the exam, essentially from start to finish.
The presenters will discuss the efforts involved in developing an appropriate, high-level, and fair examination that will allow a level of competency for those graduating in the field as well as emphasize the frequency and stringency of the item evaluation process. The NAVLE is constantly being reviewed and vetted to ensure that it:
- Is legally defensible and psychometrically sound
- Tests entry-level clinical competency
- Protects the public and animal/human welfare
The presentation will include detailed information on the NAVLE creation life cycle, as well as the entire item writing process.
While the NAVLE Deep Dive presentation at AAVSB is geared to state and provincial licensing boards, the ICVA also offers The Life of an Item presentation at no cost to educate licensing boards, veterinary students and faculty about how the NAVLE is created and updated. Contact the ICVA office for more information about scheduling a presentation.
