One of the initial goals of ICVA’s Academic Veterinary Assessment Working Group (AVAWG) was to develop a program that would provide grants to support research focused on assessment within veterinary academia. The scope of the research would include validation of current and discovery of new assessment methods, and to implement and support best practices in assessment in veterinary medicine.

The AVAWG was excited to receive 13 proposals for the 2019 grants and has awarded two grants in the inaugural pilot program.

One grant is awarded to Dr. Harold Bok, Utrecht University, and his research associate, Dr. Lubberta de Jong, for their proposal “Can We Effectively Assess Students’ Learning Over Time? The Informative Function of Students’ Learning Trajectories in High-stakes Decision Making”.

The second grant is awarded to Dr. Martina Mosing, Murdoch University, and her research associates for their proposal “The Use of an E-portfolio for Summative Assessment of Clinical Skill in Veterinary Medicine”.

Additional information will be available in the near future.
