Call for Nominations—ICVA International Activities Committee
The International Council for Veterinary Assessment (ICVA) is seeking nominations for members of the International Activities Committee (IAC).
Purpose
The primary purpose of the International Activities Committee is to provide strategic guidance to the ICVA Board of Directors on expanding ICVA’s assessment portfolio through partnerships and collaborations with new international markets. The Committee serves in an advisory capacity to the Board of Directors and does not have decision-making authority unless expressly delegated by the Board.
Committee & Format
The Committee consists of at least two members of the ICVA Board of Directors, along with members of the veterinary or assessment community who have experience in international collaborations, assessment, and/or education.
Committee members serve a three-year term and may serve a maximum of two terms (six years total). The Committee Chair is appointed by the Chair of the ICVA Board and serves a two-year term. Members may become eligible for leadership roles after serving on the Committee as outlined in the Committee Charter.
Committee meetings are conducted via remote communication, including conference calls and similar technologies that allow all participants to hear one another. If it is determined that an in-person meeting is necessary, ICVA will reimburse reasonable travel, lodging, and meal expenses incurred while conducting ICVA business.
Committee Responsibilities
The Committee’s responsibilities include:
- Building relationships with international veterinary schools and regulators.
- Collaborating with international organizations and governments to support the advancement of veterinary standards of care.
- Partnering with international educational institutions on the development of progress/completion examinations or other standards compatible with local requirements for competent veterinary graduates.
- Researching the need for and feasibility of expanding the use of ICVA examinations in international markets.
Nomination Information
ICVA welcomes nominations from individuals with an interest in advancing veterinary assessment globally. Ideal candidates will have experience in one or more of the following areas:
- International veterinary education
- Veterinary regulation or licensure
- Educational assessment and testing
- International collaborations and partnerships
- Veterinary practice
- Nonprofit governance and leadership
Interested individuals may be nominated by a veterinary organization, nominated by a colleague, or self-nominated.
