NAVLE - Eligibility & Applying

There are two main eligibility paths. Path one is through an AVMA Council on Education (COE) accredited program.

  • Eligibility, NAVLE

  • Application, Deadlines, NAVLE

  • Canada, Eligibility, Licensing Boards, NAVLE

Students enrolled in an AVMA Council on Education (COE) accredited veterinary program must have an expected graduation date that falls within 10 months of the end of the NAVLE testing window for which they apply. If your anticipated graduation date changes after you have submitted your application, your veterinary school must notify the ICVA directly of your new anticipated graduation date so that your eligibility and available options can be reviewed. Please note that NAVLE fees are nonrefundable and nontransferable. To ensure fairness for all candidates and to comply with established application deadlines, refunds, fee transfers, extensions, and testing window changes cannot be granted. If your application is not approved, you are determined to be ineligible after initial approval, or you do not sit for the examination during the testing window for which you applied, you will be required to submit a new application and pay the full examination fee for a future testing window. Please note, if you do not test during a specific testing window, it is not counted as one of the five NAVLE attempts for the purposes of the NAVLE retake policy.
